KUCHING: The Crocs supporters would be organising training for the
chant group on August 20 at the parking area of Stadium Negeri.
Sarawak
Soccer Supporters (SSS) leader, Awang Zaifulizan Abdul Rahman Awang
Mohamed said the date and venue were agreed by all major fans and
support group in the state that attend a meeting Saturday evening.
“We
have agreed to collaborate, and present were leaders of Ultracrocs –
Mohd Maludin, Sarawak Sayotters – Awang Khairul Azhar, Crocs Attack –
Zafrul Badri Shah and myself,†Zaifullizan said.
He said the
support group would be adopting new style that were made popular by
Ultra Malayas – the core support group of National team.
“They
will be chanting and singing together to support the team. The most
important thing is the spirit to support the team whenever they play, be
it league games, friendly matches or Malaysia Cup.
“We want the supporters to play the role as 12th player in helping the team to achieve better result,†he stressed.
Although the training is initiated by the four groups, other supporters wishing to join the session are most welcome, he added.
“To join the support group, one must agree to three basic conditions.
“Listen to the leaderâ€. Never throw object into the pitch and iii. Never condemn our own players,†he said.
Zaifullizan
admitted that Sarawak fans were hurt by comments made by some TV
pundits who labelled the Crocs as ‘whipping boys’ and local fans should
not be too optimist.
“The commentators may be trying to provoke
the Sarawak players to perform but whatever it is now is the best
opportunity for Crocs to show that we are better and capable of
springing some surprise.
“Malaysia Cup is the best exposure for us
because we would be playing against the top team whom we would meet in
Super League next season,†he said, adding that the underdog tag arrive
from the fact that Sarawak played in lower division.
Zaifullizan
hoped the fans would stop thinking that joining one of the many support
groups is a key to obtain free entry into the stadium.
“Supporters
must get rid of that mentality. The best way to get discount is by
buying a season ticket. Our team need our support, and by buying ticket
we are helping our team,†he stressed.
